As of 2026, a private driver in Labuan Bajo costs roughly USD 40 to USD 115 per car for a 10-hour full day, with airport transfers starting around USD 12 and 6-hour half days from around USD 28. Every figure on this page is per vehicle, not per person — the same rate applies whether one person or six people sit in the car. Because rates move with season, route length and fuel, we treat these numbers as indicative and confirm your exact quote on WhatsApp before you commit.
Labuan Bajo Private Driver is operated under Komodo Luxury since 2015. What you are hiring here is a driver-guide with the vehicle — an English-speaking local driver who knows the Flores road network, not a self-drive arrangement.

A few reading notes. The airport transfer column assumes one-way between Komodo Airport and a hotel inside Labuan Bajo town; villas on the Golo Mori or Batu Cermin side sit at the upper end. The day-trip price for land tours such as Cunca Wulang, Rangko Cave or Batu Cermin is normally the full-day 10-hour rate plus fuel for the distance involved, which is why we quote route by route rather than publishing a single flat number. The overland per day column applies to multi-day Flores journeys toward Ruteng, Wae Rebo, Bajawa, Ende and Kelimutu, and already carries the driver’s meals and lodging unless your written quote says otherwise.
What is included and what is not?
| Included in the quoted rate | Not included |
|---|---|
| Driver, fuel for the agreed route, parking and any road tolls | National park and site entrance tickets, ranger or local guide fees |
| English-speaking driver-guide when requested at booking | Boat, ferry and speedboat tickets for island days |
| Bottled drinking water and phone charging in the car | Meals, drinks and accommodation for guests |
| The vehicle’s standard insurance cover | Overtime beyond the agreed hours, charged at the extra-hour rate |
| Pickup and drop-off anywhere inside Labuan Bajo town | Tips, which are entirely at your discretion |
Which service blocks can you book?
- Airport transfer — one-way or return, with meet-and-greet at arrivals and a name sign. See Labuan Bajo airport transfer.
- Half day, 6 hours — town errands, a single viewpoint, sunset at Amelia Hill or a harbour-and-market run.
- Full day, 10 hours — the standard land-tour block; see the 10-hour full-day private driver page for sample timings.
- Extra hour — pro-rata overtime if the day runs long, agreed with the driver on the spot.
- Day trip by route — priced per destination because distance and road condition differ sharply outside town.
- Multi-day overland — 2 to 7 days across Flores with the same driver throughout; see multi-day Flores overland driver.
How do you book and how is payment handled?
Send us your dates, guest count, hotel and rough plan on WhatsApp. We reply with a written quote naming the vehicle class, the hours block and everything excluded, so there is no reinterpretation later. A booking is held once you confirm that quote; for peak dates and for multi-day overland we normally ask for a deposit and settle the balance in cash or by transfer at the end of the service. Day-to-day transfers and single-day hires are usually settled on completion. If a route changes mid-trip, the driver tells you the price difference before you drive it.
What happens with cancellations and flight delays?
Flight delays into Komodo Airport are common in the rainy months. We track your flight number, so a late arrival simply shifts the pickup at no extra charge — the driver waits. Cancellations made a day or more ahead are handled without penalty in practice; a same-day cancellation after the driver has already departed for your hotel may carry a partial charge for fuel and time, which we will always tell you about before applying. If a road is closed or a site is shut, we re-route rather than cancel and re-quote only if the new route is materially longer.
Why do quotes vary by season and route?
Three plain reasons. First, demand: July to September and the Christmas–New Year window tighten vehicle availability across Labuan Bajo, and rates firm up accordingly. Second, distance: a Cunca Wulang day and a Wae Rebo day are both “one day”, but the fuel and wear differ by a factor of three. Third, road condition: the mountain sections toward Ruteng and Bajawa are slower and harder on a vehicle than the coastal run, so the same 10 hours costs more there. A single flat number would mean overcharging short routes to subsidise long ones.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price per car or per person?
Per car. A Toyota Avanza full day is the same rate for one traveller or five, which is why splitting a Toyota Innova with driver across a family or a group of friends usually beats per-seat joining tours.
Do your drivers speak English?
Request an English-speaking driver-guide at booking and we assign one. Our drivers narrate the route, handle stops and translate at markets and villages; they are not licensed nature guides for national park landings, where a ranger is separate and mandatory.
Are these rates negotiable for longer bookings?
Yes. Three days or more, or a repeat booking across a group, generally lands at the lower end of each range. Tell us the full plan in one message rather than booking day by day and the pricing works in your favour.
How far ahead should I book?
For June to September and the year-end peak, two to four weeks ahead is sensible, especially for Hiace and Elf class vehicles. Outside those windows, 24 to 48 hours is usually enough.
