An electric car with driver in Labuan Bajo is a chauffeured EV — Toyota bZ4X or Wuling Air EV class, depending on availability — booked with an English-speaking driver-guide for airport transfers, town errands, half-day sightseeing and resort hops. It seats up to 4 passengers comfortably, runs silently with zero tailpipe emissions, and is priced as an indicative USD day-rate band confirmed by quote before you pay. It is the right choice for in-town and short-radius driving; for Ruteng, Bajawa or Kelimutu we openly recommend a combustion SUV instead, and we explain exactly why below.
Labuan Bajo Private Driver is operated under Komodo Luxury, which has run guided ground and sea programmes in Flores since 2015. EV chauffeur service is still uncommon here — most local listings offer combustion vehicles only — so we treat it as a specialist product with honest limits rather than a marketing badge.
What is included in an EV with driver booking?
Every electric car booking is a driver-first service, not a self-drive rental. You get:
- A professional English-speaking driver who knows Labuan Bajo’s harbour access points, resort gates, hillside viewpoints and the traffic rhythm around Soekarno-Hatta Airport (LBJ).
- An EV in the 4-passenger class — Toyota bZ4X for a full-size, air-conditioned SUV feel, or Wuling Air EV / Binguo class for compact town work. Exact model is confirmed in writing when we quote, since our EV pool is small.
- Charging and running costs covered inside the agreed service area, plus parking and driver meals on standard blocks.
- Flexible routing within the block — you are buying hours and a driver, not a fixed one-way ticket, so stops can shift on the day.
- Bottled water, phone charging and luggage handling as standard courtesy.
If your group is larger than 4 people or you have dive gear and multiple large cases, an EV is the wrong tool. In that case we move you to a Toyota Innova with driver or a Hiace, both of which handle luggage volume far better.
Who should book an electric chauffeur in Labuan Bajo?
The EV option suits four clear situations:
- Airport transfers. LBJ airport to town or to hillside resorts is a short, smooth run — ideal EV territory. See our full Labuan Bajo airport transfer service for meet-and-greet details.
- City and sunset tours. Bukit Cinta, Puncak Waringin, the harbour promenade and Batu Cermin are all within a compact radius, and silent running genuinely changes the feel of a sunset stop.
- Resort hopping and dinner runs. Guests staying at hillside or coastal properties often want two or three short movements a day rather than one long tour.
- Sustainability-conscious travellers and corporate ESG trips. Groups that report on travel emissions can document a zero-tailpipe ground leg for the Labuan Bajo portion of their itinerary.
How good is EV charging in Labuan Bajo as of 2026?
Here is the honest position, because getting this wrong ruins a trip. As of 2026, Labuan Bajo has only a small number of public charging points, concentrated in and around the town area, plus a handful of hotel destination chargers. Charging is workable for a vehicle that returns to base each night and covers town-radius distances. It is not yet a network you can rely on across Flores.
What that means in practice:
- Town, airport and resort-radius driving: fully comfortable. We plan charging around your schedule, not the other way round.
- Day trips toward the eastern coastal villages or Mbeliling area: possible with planning, but we will confirm feasibility per route before accepting.
- Ruteng, Bajawa, Wae Rebo, Riung and Kelimutu: we do not accept EV bookings for these legs. Charging along the Trans-Flores highway is sparse, the gradients are severe, and a range problem in the highlands is a genuine safety issue, not an inconvenience. For those routes we operate combustion SUVs and MPVs — see our Flores overland tour with driver programmes.
We would rather lose an EV booking than strand a guest at 1,200 metres after dark. If your itinerary mixes town days with an overland leg, the normal solution is an EV for the Labuan Bajo days and a Fortuner or Innova for the highland days, with the same driver-guide throughout where scheduling allows.
How much does an electric car with driver cost?
Pricing is quote-based in USD. The bands below are indicative as of 2026 and exist so you can budget before you enquire — they are not a fixed tariff. Final pricing depends on season, vehicle availability, pickup point, hours and whether an overnight or out-of-area component applies.
| Service | Duration | Indicative USD |
|---|---|---|
| Airport transfer (LBJ ↔ town or resort) | One way | USD 18 – 30 |
| Evening / resort hop block | 3 hours | USD 35 – 55 |
| Half-day EV charter with driver | 6 hours | USD 60 – 90 |
| Full-day EV charter with driver | 10 hours | USD 95 – 135 |
Included: driver, charging, parking, driver meal on standard blocks. Not included: entrance fees, national park or conservation tickets, boat tickets, guest meals, and any waiting time beyond the booked block (charged hourly). Because the EV fleet in Labuan Bajo is small, we quote only after checking real availability for your dates — we do not confirm a vehicle we cannot actually deliver.

Frequently asked questions
Can I hire the EV without a driver?
No. Every vehicle on this site is supplied with a professional driver. Chauffeured service is what we do, and it is also the safer arrangement given Flores road conditions and local traffic behaviour.
Will the driver speak English?
Yes. Our drivers work as English-speaking driver-guides, able to explain sites, handle restaurant and harbour logistics, and translate on your behalf. If you need another language, tell us at enquiry stage and we will confirm honestly whether we can cover it.
What happens if the EV becomes unavailable before my trip?
We tell you immediately and offer a same-class combustion vehicle at the equivalent rate, or a full refund of any deposit if you prefer not to proceed. We will not substitute silently.
How many passengers and bags fit?
Plan for 4 passengers with hand luggage, or 3 passengers with medium suitcases. For 5 or more travellers, or for dive and camera equipment, book an MPV or van class instead.
